Peace it Together (March 2006)
This month-long festival promoting world peace, celebrated the power of art to bridge differences between cultures. Created by Genesis at the Crossroads, the centerpiece of the festival was the Chicago debut of the Middle East Peace Quilt at the Columbia College Glass Curtain Gallery in Chicago. As part of the Peace it Together celebration, we presented two weekends of related programming, performances and lectures for adults and children.
The eclectic program included artists: Stacy Keach, Ella Jenkins, Yemenite choreographer Shmulik Gov Ari (for the world premiere of Ahuva, an original commissioned dance piece with Shalechet Aviv dancers,) Rang de Nila (a Hindu /Jewish/Muslim visual art/dance collaboration) an Ethiopian Jewish Choir performance & Maya Nadison’s puppetry.
