One Peace at a Time - Peace quilt program

  • Students at multiple public/private schools and community centers have the opportunity both to fashion a quilting square with their own creative expressions for world peace and to write about their thoughts while doing so. Professional quilt artists donate all of the labor to professionally transform these creations into individual quilts for children in war-torn areas abroad.
  • Replicated at the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles for LA public school children. Travels to other US museums/sites as self-perpetuating program nationwide
  • Letter writing campaign for American students to reach those in conflict zones with the peace quilt commemorative cards (Pilot CPS’ Lincoln 6th Grade Class, 2010)

The Chicago Experience
Over 200 students at multiple Chicagoland public and private schools, ethnically diverse community centers, Girl Scout troops and refugee youth programs participated in these workshops from the Summer of 2006- the Fall of 2007.

As an entire exhibition, their quilts, along with their written prose and photographs will travel to US museums en route to their destination in Baghdad.

Visit our online shop and purchase gift cards decorated
with beautiful reproductions of these quilts.
